Following Gordon Brown’s housing announcements in April’s budget a new details of a new funding has been released.
Extra 1.5 billion allocated to build extra affordable homes
A total of £1.5 billion has been earmarked for local authorities to build 3,000 extra council houses over the next two years. This measure will aim to encourage stalled developments and deliver a total of 20,000 new homes.
This cash is on top of the current £8 billion for 2008-11 given to the HCA, and also additional to the £500 million announced in the budget.
