The latest figures from the Government have shown a massive increase in required households compared to previous estimates.
The Office of National Statistics have released report showing a whopping 19% increase in the required number of households in 2031 compared to a report commissioned in 2006. This means the number of households in England is projected to grow to 27.8 million in 2031, an increase of 6.3 million over the 2006 estimate.
New housing is urgently required to cope with this demand. Current housing will not fulfil the demand and this is reflected in the urgent need for new one-person households which will rise by 60% between 2006 and 2031 combined with the average number of people per household is set to drop from 2.32 in 2006 to 2.13 in 2031.
