A new body known as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) is to be created to ensure the delivery of new developments.
This new SPV will sit alongside Ashford’s Future, a body responsible for defining development policy. Cllr Paul Clockie, Chairman of Ashford’s Future believes, “The new structure shifts the focus from strategy and planning to delivery and will improve the capacity of Ashford’s Future partnership to drive forward Ashford’s growth plans.”
House building levels fell last year to 359 despite targets of over 1000 new homes are needed each year.
Robert Stevenson, chairman of Ashford Landowners Group said “Progress has been painfully slow. The housing numbers are terrible and this is down to a lack of planning permissions being granted by the council.”
